Well now

…that took a bit longer than expected. And there’s no shortage of things left to be done.

But, it seems well past time to work on putting some content up here, so I’ll fix as I go. If there are any long-suffering readers still out there, please let me know if anything isn’t working with the new design. Ideally, we’re all seeing something that looks a little like this (well, maybe somewhat larger):

    I haven’t seen it on a Windows machine yet, so the fact that IE isn’t flubbing it is very welcome news. I appreciate everyone checking in with their browsers—that helps immensely.

    And the new mascot will be getting a proper introduction soon, I promise!

    I’m seeing it in Firefox 2 and in IE 7 on Windows XP (of course). Overall, it looks great. One minor bug: the word “Carboniferous” in the list of geological periods on the right extends a bit beyond the white background in IE 7, and only in IE (not in Firefox). It’s not a severe enough defect to really hamper the user, but I thought I’d point it out; IE seems not to be stretching the bounding box to fit the text as it should.
