Katrina addenda

There’s not much I’m able to say about the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina that hasn’t already been said by voices far more eloquent than mine.
In addition to supporting the organizations helping the people that Katrina has displaced, injured, or worse, please consider the following causes that are working to meet other, less obvious needs:
The Humane Society is working to rescue pets in New Orleans, and the Houston SPCA and ASPCA are working to provide shelters for evacuated animals. The American Humane Association is working on animal rescues in Mississippi.
The American Zoo and Aquarium Association has a report on the zoos in the path of Katrina. Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo is spearheading an effort to provide relief to the Audobon Nature Institute in New Orleans. Russ Williams of the N.C. Zoo Society has frequent zoo-related updates on his blog.
The American Association of Museums has a list of Museums, Zoos, and other institutions affected by the hurricane, and some organizations working to address their needs.
